John Stott said, “The authority by which the Christian leader leads is not power but love, not force but example, not coercion but reasoned persuasion. Leaders have power but power is safe only in the hands of those who humble themselves to serve.

This thought is expressed many times in scripture:

Matthew 20:26 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.

Ephesians 5:21 Submit yourselves one to another.

Leadership must know when hats change. One day I may lead, the very next I’m placed to follow.
